Russell Bodine

Bodine, a top OL recruit out of FUMA, has VT in his top four after recent unofficial visits around the East Coast. The coaches have him pegged as a center. As far as I know, he's planning on visiting for the Spring Game. From what I know, Bodine really passes the eye-ball test at a legit 6'4", 275 lbs.

David Amerson

I've heard that Amerson is looking to make a decision soon, i.e. this summer. I think this bodes well for VT because we've been on him like white on rice.

He's a great athlete with the kind of body Cav looks for in a ROVER or WHIP, but at the end of the day I think he's the plug-in behind Zo Williams at FS. He's the most natural safety, in the eyes of some, that we've got on our board at this time.

Hopefully he makes it to either (or both) the Spring Game or the Mid-Summer Camp.

Anthony Creecy

The NC WR is a really hot recruit in the ACC right now, and his offer list reflects it. His recent visit to VT was a good one, but I think we're on the outside looking it right now at the NC schools. However, if he decides to look out of state VT may have the best shot.

I've heard through the grapevine that Creecy is looking to come to the spring game, and hopefully the coaches can get in his ear and convince him that Blacksburg isn't that much farther away. As I've mentioned before, it would be great to get Creecy not just because of his athletic ability but because he may come as a package deal with Robert Crisp.

A.J. Marshall

Marshall, a 5'10" 170 lb CB prospect from NC, is one of or the top defensive back prospect on VT's recruiting board this year and has had an offer to play for the Hokies for months now. I know that Torrian Gray is in on his recruiting and it's helping a lot. He's got VT listed in his early top five, and I would expect it to come down to us and UNC when its all said and done. I've also heard that he really likes our special team play and the staff is really selling its continuity to his parents.

For what its worth, he's the number three DB on my board, after Nick Dew and David Amerson.

2011 Offers

I've been hearing rumblings about the 2011 class and thought that I'd give the loyal readers some real inside info on who's got a verbal offer as of right now:

Everett Golson- 6'0", 170 lb QB from Myrtle Beach, SC. This guy is the real deal, and a true pro-style QB with mobility. If we land him, look out- the Coaches are looking to him as the heir apparent to TT.

Curtis Grant- 6'3", 215 lb LB from Richmond, VA. This guy is the real deal, and could push any starter that we have on the team right now. His nose for the football reminds me of (dare I say) Vince Hall, and his cheetah speed reminds me of Adibi. Yikes. He might be my early favorite recruit of 2011 (if you can't already tell).

Ronny Vandyke- 6'3", 185 lb DB from Lorton, Va. Coaches think that this guy has more athletic ability than Chancellor (WOW)

Dominique Terrell- 5'11" ATH from Manassas, Va. This guy is in the Ryan Williams mold for elusiveness and he actually plays QB in High School. I'm not sure if he's going to be a QB at the next level, but he's got the hips and explosiveness to translate well into a quality CB in Foster's system.
